Earlier this month I took a trip up to Charlotte, North Carolina for work and visited the beautiful VanLandingham Estate which is nestled in The Plaza Midwood of this beautiful city. It’s recently been renovated and is one of Charlotte’s hidden gems that I had the joy of photographing.
The historic home boasts exposed stone and architectural features that were in the original design – best of all, the venue has an abundance of windows, private suites, and natural light (perfect for a film photographer like me!). In addition to a large and shaded outdoor reception space that can accommodate up to 300+ guests, the grounds have an expansive and lush garden featuring a magnificent array of rhododendron, developed in honor of Mr. VanLandingham, the home’s original owner. As such, it is considered one of the most noteworthy properties in Charlotte, adding an additional element of charm for guests to enjoy and explore.

In addition to the flexibility and versatility of VanLandingham, we often see planners come in and design a range of different layouts and styles, truly creating one-of-a-kind events, from the ground up. The entire outdoor patio is over 5600 square feet and is specifically engineered to accommodate sailcloth or clear tented events, adding a refined and elevated touch to the American Craftsman-style home and the original details of the property.
Now, back to the quiet garden; one of my favorite elements is the hidden gardens and greenhouse. It’s absolutely stunning and would be the perfect location for a bridal luncheon or newlywed portraits as the sun begins to set.
We are so excited to come back to Charlotte to document our clients’ weddings this upcoming season. It’s a gorgeous space and truly provides a stunning backdrop for a beautiful and elevated event.
