Cotswolds Inspired Laundry Room Renovation in the heart of Atlanta

HEUER DESIGN COLLECTIVEAs a photographer, there’s a unique joy in capturing the essence of a design through the lens. Our recent Atlanta project with Heuer Design Collective, led by the talented Dawn, was a visual delight, infusing the charm of the Cotswolds into a Kirkwood home’s laundry room.

Dawn is a talented interior designer based in Atlanta with an impressive background in production and with a keen eye for color, textures, and design. This space was one of our favorites we’ve ever had the pleasure of photographing.

From the moment we entered, the whimsical floral wallpaper on the ceiling drew the eye upwards, reminiscent of the quaint English cottages. This element became a captivating focal point, making the room feel larger and more inviting. The rich burgundy and deep green hues, chosen to complement the classic burgundy checkered tile floor, added depth and warmth, creating a cozy atmosphere that echoed the Cotswolds’ natural beauty.

The vintage-inspired sink and Dutch door further enriched the space, blending functionality with aesthetic charm. The Dutch door, opening to the family’s garden, not only provided a practical entry point but also connected the indoors with the outdoors, bringing in natural light and a sense of openness. This feature was a joy to photograph, as it framed the room beautifully, capturing the seamless transition between the interior and the lush garden beyond.

One of my favorite elements to photograph was the fanciful ladder. Its storybook charm added a touch of magic to the room, serving both as a practical tool and a decorative piece that enhanced the room’s character. The way it stood against the backdrop of floral wallpaper and rich tones told a story of its own, one of whimsy and utility harmoniously intertwined.

The day of the shoot blessed us with beautiful golden light, which highlighted the room’s colors and textures. The sheen of the tiles and cabinets reflected the light beautifully, adding a bright and welcoming ambiance. It was a delight to see how the design elements came together, creating a space that felt both functional and inviting—a true retreat making laundry a delight.

This project was a testament to the transformative power of thoughtful design, capturing the essence of the Cotswolds in a modern Kirkwood home and it was a pleasure to document this process, seeing how each element of Dawn’s vision contributed to a cohesive and enchanting space.
