Shelby and Buck | The Foundry at Puritan Mill Wedding

Shelby and Buck celebrated their 1-year anniversary this past month and I only thought it fitting to celebrate by sharing images from their beautiful wedding day at The Foundry at Puritan Mill! Looking back on this wedding is truly such a treat since this is one of my favorite weddings in Atlanta I’ve ever had the pleasure of photographing to-date. Shelby and Buck share a fondness that is lighthearted and cheery and it was obvious throughout the day-of that their wedding was truly about bringing those who loved them most, together in one place to celebrate together.

I asked Shelby what the best thing has been that they’ve learned from one another and I adore her response:

One of my favorite aspects about our relationship is that Buck and I push each other to be better people. I would have never made it through my first three semesters of PT school without Buck. There have been countless nights I called him crying saying I wasn’t good enough or smart enough or it was too hard and he consistently comforted me while also telling me that I could do it, that I just needed to keep going and doing my best, reminding me how hard I worked to get there and how passionate I am about it.

When we first met, Buck was teaching 9th grade geography and coaching baseball. While he loved the coaching part, he was miserable during the school hours of the day and I could tell. Like me, he is the type of person who always likes to be challenged and he was not in a setting that provided him that opportunity. Having graduated with a degree in social science education, branching out to an unknown career field must have been scary. I encouraged and supported him the best I could and I am so incredibly proud of the hard work he has put into his new career.  We also push each other to be better people as a whole. Buck makes me want to be the best I can be, to be hard working, kind, and strong in my faith. Being in a relationship that makes me push myself is one way I know I have found the person God intended to be my perfect match.

Shelby and Buck said their vows to one another in a beautiful indoor wedding (which was perfect, given how toasty Atlanta becomes in early May!) which was officiated by Buck’s father. Family played a huge role in this wedding, not only by having Buck’s father officiate the wedding but even to having Shelby’s grandfather pray before dinner. What was so precious about this wedding was how important it was to Shelby and Buck to celebrate their parents’ and grandparents’ faiths and marriages who they both look up to as examples.

The Foundry at Puritan Mill is beloved by many because of its stunning architecturally-driven yet sophisticated space. Upon walking inside, you’ll notice immediately the industrial elements to the venue: large windows with iron details and brick lining the walls. This canvas served as a the perfect backdrop to their wedding after adorning it with lush greenery and touches of blues and pinks, perfectly done by Alyssa of Ginger Rose Flowers which paired perfectly in Shelby’s light-blue bridesmaid dresses and her day-of details like her invitation suite and custom-made ring box. The ceremony and reception site was infused with live trees and plants, bringing life and fresh air to the venue. After exchanging vows, and rings, guests were invited to play lawn games outside and mingle at cocktail hour with custom drinks with one another. Dinner commenced after flipping the entire room to feature centerpieces at each table and custom-lettered calligraphy table numbers and a large head table. After dinner was served, these two danced the evening away with their family and friends with one of the best live bands I’ve ever heard and said goodbye under the gorgeous twinkling lights and rose petals.

Shelby and Buck, I cannot believe it’s been an entire year since your wedding and I’m so excited for you both as you two continue being such a light and joy to those around you. Thank you for having me come celebrate with you both!
